Unveil the magic of Saidi dance with Janelle & Joudy in this dynamic duet choreography and training experience—a special one-time workshop where you’ll explore the energy, playfulness, and connection of dancing Saidi with a partner. 💫🥁 ❥ DATE: April 10th 2026 ❥ TIME: 6:30 Arrive, 6:45 Begin, 8:45/9:00 Conclude ❥ LOCATION: The Loft New York | 16 Pell Street (3rd Floor Stairs) New York, New York ❥ WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Explore the playful spirit, rhythm, and character of this beloved folkloric style from Upper Egypt. In this dynamic session, you’ll dive into Saidi technique through drills, combinations, and an exciting duet choreography using the cane (assaya). Along the way, we’ll touch on the cultural roots of the dance while building the grounded bounce, musicality, and expressive attitude that make Saidi so captivating. You’ll also experience the fun of partner interaction, bringing a lively stage dialogue to life. Bring a friend to dance with or be paired with someone in class. ❥ LEVEL: OPEN LEVEL **This open-level workshop will be taught at an intermediate/advanced pace, so it may be a challenge for beginners—but beginners are absolutely welcome! Everyone will find something valuable to learn and enjoy as we explore dancing with a partner. Feel free to bring a friend, or you’ll be happily paired with someone in class. 💃✨ ❥ PROP: You will need a Raqs Al Assaya (dance cane) for this workshop. Canes can be purchased at checkout for this workshop to use and take home.
